Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. • Super Junior Amazes Everyone with their "Mr. Simple" Comeback Stages
    Friday, August 12, 2011 @ 10:09 PM | comment (0)

Last time, I spazzed about Super Junior's concept phtotos, MV teasers and their MV. But before you think the spazzing is over, I'm so not over (and I haven't got over) the mind-blowing comeback stages of the boys since last week, August 4, up to yesterday, Aug 11. They performed a total of 4 comeback stages from Music Bank (Friday, August 4) to Music Core (Saturday, August 5) to Inkigayo (Sunday, August 6) and finally, in this week's M! Countdown (yesterday, August 11). That was a whirlwind series of performances from the leading men of the Hallyu Wave, who not only amazed with their total album sales for the first week of August alone, but also wowed fans once more in all their comeback stages from 4 of South Korea's weekend music programs.

I streamed 3 out of their 4 comeback stages except their first one (Mu Bank) because I woke up late that afternoon because too much editing (my bread and butter)! It was their first performance for Mr. Simple so it was special, and I know it was too bad of me as a fan to have missed it, but I literally stayed awake the next day, the day after and yesterday to make up of what I did. :) Super Junior did an amazing job overall. I honestly think this comeback is better than their previous one. Last year, I honestly felt something was lacking, and I couldn't explain it. Well, it was their first comeback as 10 members after Hangeng left the group and it was also their first comeback without Kangin and Kibum (who was totally M.I.A. even in the MV). Still, they got a lot of support from all their fans and even sold the most album copies for the year of 2010, following the success of their third album which also placed first in 2009.

This week was a very busy one for the boys. Since they started promoting their fifth album, I think they barely slept. And in between the days when they would have broadcasts on music shows, they would have other things scheduled like performances here and there, so I understand that they must be really tired. However, they are still in good shape and are looking good as ever! Though I am a fan, I wouldn't say that the comeback stages were perfect (that there were no flaws) because they still have a lot of room for improvement even though they are already doing a great job. Nevertheless, they gave all their best to their comeback stages, and considering that they almost had no sleep during those days, I have to give the hardworking boys a thumbs up again!

Like what I said, as far as this comeback is going, I am enjoying every little bit of it. I have listened to all the songs in their album and they are all surprisingly good. I like them all with varying degrees. And I must say that this is probably their best album yet. I don't know about how others feel about it, but I have followed them for years and I have seen their growth from boys to men. I have also been keeping track of their music and how it has evolved over the years. I like all their albums, and Sorry Sorry (the 3rd album) was my favorite until this one.

If you are going to ask me why, the answer is rather simple. It's because I love the fact that this album tried to explore the musicality of the group and their ability to actually sing songs that people think they cannot. In this album, if you have noticed, they tried so many genres. It is a compilation that is a a breathtaking concoction of sugar, spice and everything nice! It shows their promising growth as artists (not just plain idols who give entertainment), but as real singers who can actually sing. We know we love to see them perform on stage, but this is a turning point for their career as it somehow gives the public a clue on what kind of music this group is more likely to pursue when they get older. That is, when they are on their thirties and forties. Probably, until their fifties and sixties. I know Super Junior will live on because they were formed to last. I can totally imagine that when they get older and they cannot sing bubblegum pop and upbeat autotune songs under the "SJ Funky" genre anymore, they can still be Super Junior who are appreciated for whatever genre of song they sing.

Contrary to the opinion of other poeple about the album, it is still my favorite. Not because I am their fan, but because this album's value cannot be undermined. I've read reviews from Kpop sites here and there (I think we were only the ones who didn't...because the writer-nims are very busy), and I was like "Oh no! You didn't..." in every line each time a negative point was raised against them. Well, I respect their opinions, and I won't hate them because I am not an immature ELF. I am 22 years old for crying out loud, and as an ELF for too many years, my heart has turned to stone when it comes to criticisms about the group. I mean, I can understand why they are having problems. I know their weak points and strengths are, so I don't pay attention to these kind of stuff any longer. Speaking of which, I will be making another post following this one in the coming days (hopefully, before the week ends) and I will give my honest thoughts about the album. It will not be a review because I am not an expert in music (and it won't be fair to call it a review because I have the tendency to say everything positive about them all throughout. Haha!), but it will be some sort of an essay from a listener's perspective. :)

For their comeback stages, they performed their fifth album's title track, Mr. Simple, and another track, which was I believe, what they sang during one year-end music gayo last December 2010. The other track is called Superman, and boy, it is just as amazing as the boys themselves! It was, needless to say, an amazing song that was obviously made to be sung by none other than them. They totally owned the song and their comeback stages. Their performances were amazing and they have proven once again why they are loved by many, why their every move is a hot topic and why people pretty much call them the super idols that mainstream Kpop is ultimately proud of.
