Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. A Full House Remake in GMA?
    Wednesday, December 9, 2009 @ 9:00 AM | comment (0)

Ready to see Full House all over again? Well, minus Rain and Song Hye Kyo this time, we have local Philippine stars, Richard Gutierrez and Heart Evangelista, who will reprise the roles of Lee Young Jae (Justin Lee) and Han Ji Eun (Jessie), respectively. Due to the long wait that KBS, the network who aired the original Full House series in Korea is giving to audiences all over Asia for the much awaited pan-Asian season 2 that is already rumored to be pre-production already, avid fans here in the Philippines, who can't wait of the aforementioned season 2, can now at least divert their attention to the latest offering that GMA has to its viewers at the moment. Since the real Full House Season 2 is taking forever to come into fusion, at this point, let us take a look at the rising Philippine version and relive the moments Rain and Hye Kyo had which is almost unparalleled per see (no offense to Richard and Heart).

Yes, that's right. GMA 7, has acquired the rights to remake the KBS Asian hit of 2004, "Full House", starring Rain (Jeong Ji Hoon) and Song Hye Kyo. In fact, it has premiered last November 30 in the Kapuso network, airing during the timeslot of Lovers In Paris in Primetime Bida of the rival network, ABS-CBN. Surprisingly, since I don't watch that much shows in the Kapuso network, I was not able to get a grip out of this story the day it aired. I just came across a blog post in a favorite K-Pop site that I visit regularly when I am online, and voila! - there I saw the details. Much has been spilled about the local version in the web. In the original series, the cast went to China (Shanghai) and Thailand respectively for the first few parts of the series. In GMA's version, they shot in Prague, Czech Republic which took me a back while I was reading it, since it is one the places I've been dying to visist since I took hold of a geography book when I was 8. At long last, something to look forward to in the Philippine version.

I really love Prague. The city literally has a lot to offer from spots, to food and everything basically. Never fails to amaze me since I watched "Chasing Liberty" starring Matthew Goode and Mandy Moore 5 years ago, and Lovers in Prague, a Korean drama which aired years back in the Kapuso network as well, specifically in Qtv. Well, I've also read that Patrick Garcia, and Isabel Oli (who are both former kapamilya stars) takes on the roles of Yoo Min Hyuk (Luigi) and Kang Hye Won (Lorraine), respectively. Originally played by Kim Sung Soo and Han Eun Jung, I hope they portray the roles well because I especially liked Min Hyuk's character in the past, as much as I was hooked to Rain's character. If it was not Rain who played the lead for some reason then I would have wanted Hye Kyo to end up with Min Hyuk's character. Nuff' said. (Laughs...)

Unfortunately, Full House who tried to compete with Dahil May Isang Ikaw, another hit TV series in ABS-CBN, in ratings. Good enough, the high anticipation of the fans was really a key factor in the predicting the airtime success of this new series. Let's see how Full Hose does in the coming days since it's too early to say. And as much as I want to see both Song Hye Kyo and Rain back together, I hope the Philippine adaptation will not disappoint audiences as well, especially now that the rest of original series' fans across Southeast Asia is keeping an eye on how the plot of the series remains faithful to the original one. ;p
