I did not intend to write a double post related to Super Junior in one day. It just so happened that I have a couple of minutes to spare, and I find the collaboration of veteran singer Kim Jang Hoon and Super Junior’s Heechul
refreshing and to my liking. I honestly don’t know that much about Kim
Jang Hoon, but from what I know, he is a very respected singer in
Korea. He has already established a name in the industry even before I
got into Kpop, so he is that big. I remember him guesting on Foresight
before (a variety show hosted by Super Junior in 2010), and he was
really funny. I know he’s good friends with the Super Junior members,
so this duet did not come as a surprise to me.
What came as a surprise to me though, was Heechul’s sudden
announcement that he would be enlisting in the army last month. I
always knew that it would happen sooner or later, but after reading the
headline that very morning after waking up, the news just left me
speechless right then and there. Of all the members in the group, I
never imagined that he would be the first to go. But seeing how he’s
doing in the army right now, I am relieved that our milky white skinned Cinderella
Heechul is adjusting to army life pretty well. It looks like he has a
lot of friends in there too, and even his superiors are praising him
for his ability to adapt to his surroundings well and to learn quick.
On the other hand, this kind of song (Break-ups Are So Like Me)
is so Heechul, and I’m glad that Kim Jang Hoon chose him because he is
indeed the perfect person for this duet. His voice, as always, is
soothing and wonderful to listen to. He may not be a member of KRY,
but this guy can definitely sing. And I think he should sing more after
his two-year service. I also want to see him more in dramas and movies
because it has been ages since I saw a Kim Heechul production. And
maybe more variety shows too! As long as he’s on TV, anything is okay.
LOL!
My ultimate biases in Super Junior have always been Donghae and Siwon;
however, I have this soft spot for Heechul. But in the fandom, I don’t
think the word bias still exists. Because after getting into the
fandom, I became everyone’s fan naturally and began to embrace each of
their strengths and weaknesses, so I love all of the members including Mimi and Henry.
I’m just really happy to see Heechul (jumping, laughing, smiling and being his usual crazy
carefree self) again. For the next two years, I (and the rest of his
fans) will most probably be Heechul deprived, so this is really
something special. Now that it’s getting late and I’m getting sleepy,
please excuse me while I spazz some more. Haha!
