Profile

Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. • Me: A proud ate!
    Thursday, November 15, 2007 @ 8:27 PM | comment (0)

    "Ate, I won."

Those three words mystified me today and made me extremely happy. When it came out from the mouth of my brother, I was like..."Thank God." I was just so happy. I can't imagine the joy that I felt when he said that. I am so proud of him. I definitely am. I am the proudest ate in the universe. He won 2nd place in Copy Reading and Headline Writing today during the Division Schools Press Conference and is competing for Regionals in Cebu probably next month.

He was never a writer when he was younger. He didn't grow up writing. He never held the pen and the paper - but not literally though. What's unique about him is his versatility. His eagerness to learn. To try new things he never did before. To explore the world and to improve his abilities. He is so creative in a sense that he does something different everytime he had the chance. Before he joined the competition, he had a goal. To win! Sure enough, he did.

I saw how much he tried to make a "small" name for himself in his high school department's humble student publication. How often he reviewed and scanned his copy reading notes when he had time. As well as the effort he exerted just to be a part of the school paper. It didn't come quickly. But still he kept wishing. He tried a lot of times. And there were times he failed. That didn't stop him though in learning from his mistakes. He was more than ever very determined to improve himself as a writer. Taking every mistake, and learning along the way.

He sure deserves a credit for doing good. I am giving him three stars not just for winning, but for surpassing what I reached when I was his age. Yes, I competed for the same category almost 4 years ago, way back in high school and won third place. But much to my amazement and everyone's amazement, he bagged 2nd place.

Through this, I realized that no matter how big or great or small or shallow an achievement is as long as you worked hard for it, it's worth everything. Worth the hardwork. Worth the effort. Worth the determination. Worth the ups and downs. And on top of everything, it's worth every single fall you went through, just to get to the end of the rainbow and to reach its pot of gold. Needless to say, there is a silver lining in every cloud. And in every endeavor, there is hope. To win. To succeed. And to be triumphant. No matter what kind of battle in life you are in.
