Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. (^___^)
Most of the posts in this blog revolve around Asian dramas, movies and pop culture, so please proceed at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you. Haha! Have a wonderful and blessed day! :)

"The KOREAN WAVE refers to the recent surge of popularity of South Korean popular culture in other countries, especially in Asian countries. It is also referred to as "Hallyu", from the Korean pronunciation of the term. The term was coined in China in mid 1999 by Beijing journalists startled by the growing popularity of South Koreans and South Korean goods in China.[1] 한류/韓流/韩流 (Korean Wave) is homophone to an existing href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compound_word" title="Compound word">compound word, 한류/寒流 ("cold current") in Mandarin Chinese and Korean. The popularity of South Korean shows, singers, and movies throughout Asia is due both to South Korea's high income levels and to the closer cultural affinity they can share as Asian countries. The overwhelming success of South Korean dramas, movies, and music served as a major tourist magnet in 2005, mainly from the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and China." ~from - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_wave
A couple of years ago, I remember that the first Asian TV series which hooked Philippine TV audiences was Meteor Garden. I mean, who can't forget F4? The series was such a big hit. It wowed audiences from the rest of Asia, not just the Philippines. And soon enough, the 4-member boy group from Taiwan gained access to the Taiwanese and Chinese entertainment industry, and managed to sweep Southeast Asia by storm after airing in different Southeast Asian countries one after another. Because of its massive success, F4 became a household name in Asia. After a few months, more Asian TV series came to our shores. Korean dramas were exported too. And that was how it all began.
FAVE SONG - Because I'm A Girl By Kiss
*KISS is a 3-member female girl group in South Korea who started in 2001. In 2002, they released this single and it became an instant hit because of its tear-jerking video. So, prepare those handkerchiefs before you watch the video. Hehe. :)
FAVE FEMALE SINGER - BOA (Kwon BOA) *BOA started out as a singer in South Korea but after some time, she gained massive popularity in Japan, making her one of the highest paid Korean entertainers in the Japanese Entertainment bizz. This video is my favorite ballad from one of her earlier albums.
FAVE MALE SINGER - RAIN (Bi)
*This K-pop singer, dancer and actor's real name is Jeong Ji-Hoon. He is quite famous in the Philippines because some of his hit TV dramas aired here which includes "Full House" and "A Love To Kill. Because of his popularity, he appeared in South Korea's Tourism campaign, and just recently, he endorsed a local Philippine shampoo brand for men. He was named in "100 Most Influential People In The World" by Time Magazine and to People Magazine's "Most Beautiful People" in the world for 2007. I admire his dancing so much, so I chose this vid. Here's a clip from "Full House":
FAVE GIRL GROUP - Baby V.O.X.
*Baby V.O.X. was a famous girl band in South Korea before they officially disbanded on 2005 after being active for almost 7 years from 1997. Yoon Eun-Hye (who plays "Janelle" in the hit Korean TV series Princess Hours) was a former member of this girl group before going solo.
FAVE BOY GROUP - SHIHWA
*Shihwa is the longest running boy group in South Korea composed of 6 men (3 singers and 3 rappers). They have released a total of 9 albums, 8 korean albums and 1 japanese album. Rumors say they have disbanded earlier this year but news reports on the said band broadcasts that they will be reuniting again on December this year or January next year for a brand new album.
FAVE SUPERMODEL (Male) - JOO JI HOON He played in the #1 hit Princess Hours as Korea's very own crown prince, Prince Gian. Before he pursued his acting career after his successful debut with Yoon Eun Hye in Princess Hours, he was already a famous and recognized model in the Korean Modeling industry.
FAVE SOUNDTRACK (Movie) - This was My Sassy Girl's OST way back in 2001. The said movie was such a hit that it was the 2nd over-all best movie that year. It even became quite famous here in the Philippines and was dubbed in Tagalog. Moreover, a local acoustic singer, Jimmy Bondoc, remaked the song in Tagalog for it's Philippine premiere in local cinemas.
FAVE SOUNDTRACK (Series) -Geu Deh Ji Geum The hit 2004 K-Drama, "Full House" had this song as the OST. Very girly but cute. Love it! Hehe. :)
FAVE MOVIE - MY SASSY GIRL"Yeopgijeogin geunyeo" My favorite korean movie so far! I have watched a number of K movies and dramas but this is my ultimate favorite. For me, this was one of the first flicks who spearheaded the korean frenzy.
FAVE TV SERIES/DRAMA - PRINCESS HOURS This series was Korea's 2006 #1 hit from MBC. The lead actors and actresses especially the 2 main characters were all rookies, but the series came out to be so successful. The 1st video is the series' OST and the 2nd video is a compilation of my favorite scenes in the series. Nice! Hehe.
Not a lot of people know (or would even understand), but I am also a victim of drama obsession. I've been camping in dramalandia since I was 13 years old, and that's where you will most likely find me when I have nothing to do.
One of the symptoms of this disease is daydreaming about dramas everywhere whether you are at work, walking down the stairs, sleeping, even as you are walking...creepy isn't it? Hahaha!
I am also a big Asian music fan and I think Asian music rocks! I go back and forth from Cpop to Kpop and Jpop, so I may be different (and strange) compared to other people that you can find around. I am an elder sister , a dreamer , a believer , a gamer , wanderer , blogger , an optimist , an ultimate foodie and a, hands down, fangirl . I love reading books , writing , music , photography and traveling.
I am a nurse by profession who is also a copy editor and a freelance writer . I enjoy learning how to play musical instruments and learning various languages . I am crazy, loud, spontaneous, free-spirited and most of the time, a klutz.
Eren Asentista a.k.a. Eray, 23, female, from Dumaguete City, Philippines. My personality...it's complicated. :D Believe me, you wouldn't want to know who I am. Hahaha! XD
I am currently watching...
In the coming days, I plan to watch...
In Asian Entertainment, I fancy...
(This is still lacking, but this is more or less it. LOL! I will most likely be updating this in the future to accommodate my growing list of biases but check em out!)
The things that I want to do before I die are the following:
An Asian cruise. Templestay in Korea. An African safari adventure. Backpacking to Europe. Traveling through the European railways.
