My bias in Kpop boy group MBLAQ (as you can see on my bias collage near my blogger header), G.O, recently released his his first solo single and its lovely music video. It is entitled Even In My Dreams, and it is a heartfelt ballad that talks about wishing to be together with somebody who has left you and doesn't want to be with you any longer. The lyrics of the song also talks about wishing to be with that person even if it's just in your dreams, thus, the title of the song. It's a really sad song, and with G.O's amazing vocals, he makes the song even more beautiful to listen to. What makes this song extra special is the fact that he wrote it himself, and it is a beautiful song indeed. The melody is wonderful (it's something that I actually like!), and G.O's voice is the perfect fit for it.It has been a while since a talented Kpop male idol group member released a solo ballad song, so it's always refreshing to hear. These days, it is solo singers that we often see release beautiful ballads, and most of the talented idols out there are overshadowed by many other brilliant singers in the industry. And it's a sad fact sometimes because they get stereotyped by the public for the kind of music that they make (mostly upbeat and autotune), when in fact, most of them are really talented in different aspects, and some of them are even at par with the industry's bests.
When MBLAQ debuted, I didn't really notice him at all. At that time, I was more interested on what Rain had to say about his new idol group (since he founded and produced them himself) and on 2NE1 Dara's younger brother, Thunder, who is also a member of the group. But since I heard of G.O's duet with SOO of TYKEYS singing Alicia Keys' I Ain't Got You shortly after MBLAQ debuted, I was like "Yay! This guy...he's..." and I suddenly became speechless watching him belt out those high notes effortlessly while looking like this ------->>>>>>>>> O___O the whole time. He definitely nailed it! You can see it here. He also did a cover of Brian McKnight's One Last Cry, which is one of the best Kpop covers I ever heard in recent years. You can view it here. He is one Kpop idol that amazes me each time, and every time he sings a song, he owns the stage, and he sends out the feeling that he really belongs in there. I have always wished for him to release his own single ever since because he really has this beautiful singing voice that makes my heart melt. Frankly speaking, he has one of the best voices in Kpop today, and he has so much talent and potential, so I hope that this single will be able to touch more hearts, like it did with mine.
