A Crazy Little Thing Called Love: A Review

"For three years, I have done everything. I changed because of you. I applied for classical dancing club, I acted on a play, I became a drum major, I studied harder — it’s all because of you. But now I know, the thing I should have done instead — the only thing I should have done a long time ago — is tell you that… I love you."
~Nam (Baifern/Pimchanok Luevisetpaibool),
A Crazy Little Thing Called Love
89% of the people who have watched this trailer, have been through the experience...
Walk past just to see his face.
Keep his things as souvenir.
Call him just to hear his voice.
Does everything to become beautiful.
However...
Time changes.
People change.
But the heart remains true
Based on a true story of everyone...
First Love.
"89% of the people who have watched this trailer, have been through the experience." ^___^ I love how the opening of the trailer for this movie starts in that premise. True enough, it's something that every girl (and even boy) can relate to. Whether you're with someone, or you're alone (like me! haha!), this movie will hit you. And mind you, it'll hit you hard. Hard enough for you to empathize with the girl lead who has been crushing on someone for the longest time, ever. But isn't this the typical situation every time? When you have someone that you're eying on, you walk past just to see his face, keep his things as souvenir, call him just to hear his voice, and does everything to become beautiful. If you have done at least one or two out of these things, then put your hands up! Haha! This story is perfect for you.
Cast
Mario Maurer, a Thai-German model and actor who debuted in 2004 and gained fame in 2007 for the movie, Love of Siam. He's handsome, isn't he? ^___^ Aside from the trailer, he is pretty much the reason why I was convinced to watch the movie in the first place. And it's something beyond the usual, because I don't really watch Thai movies or dramas. Most of the time, Korean, Chinese and Japanese. But Thai, this is actually my first time. And for the first Thai love story that I saw, I must admit that I was actually quite impressed. But since I haven't seen other productions apart from this yet, it's still too early to say. Nonetheless, I was definitely taken aback. I was swept away by this cutie! :D

Now comes the female lead, Pimchanok Luevisetpaibool, or simply, Baifern, who gained fame from this movie, as the lovestruck girl every girl (like you and me) can relate to. I like how she played her role in this movie. She was way beyond amazing, and I must say, I have to give it to her, more than Mario Maurer, for this one. Her character carried the flow of the story, and she was more or less responsible for the 'moments that pull at the heart' scenes. She also amazed me with her transformation from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan in the movie. She's actually very pretty to start with. And so, seeing him with Mario, was really refreshing on screen.
Synopsis
Nam (Pimchanok Luevisetpaibool) is a bespectacled and dark-skinned 14-year-old ugly duckling secretly in love with Shone (Mario Maurer), her high school senior who also happens to be its most popular student. Over one summer, she ditches the spectacles and has her skin lightened. She is cast as Snow White in the school play and lands a spot as the leggy drum majorette leading the marching band. She sets hearts aflutter, but not Chon's. Or at least, that's what she thinks...
My Thoughts...
To start with, I have one thing to say for everybody, and that is, "I love this movie!" I actually saw this around two months ago, but I have just made a review today. And I really contemplated if I should do it or not, on top of all the things that I had to do. Despite being tired and all, my love for the movie eventually found it's way for my hands to start typing this one. And eventually, I got into it,and so, you are reading this review right now.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBlyMaYSMrWDebUWKGKUrsPQ-8b73D9UEg8lMKl8ZulLVcbhWV4_mWp5GAtsucK5oeUORqYsB3sZxXVOUVPZMWJUNR9HsZ4yvQP6fzb296pVnojr-nrurkoENi9anfgJsAYz1F4WQsmr4/s1600/17545_16788_644_436.jpg)
This movie won my heart because of too many simple reasons. Firstly, because I can relate to it. Second, because the male lead is hot. ^___^ And lastly, because I think and feel that everyone should see the story of Shone and Nam. The story of how a girl has loved a guy with all her heart, and the guy, at the same time, without her knowing all along. Ladies and gentlemen, it's a story about young love, that most of you may have seen for the nth time now. You're probably sick and tired of something like this already, and feel like this will be another cliché for the hundredth time. But then, believe me, it isn't. And if you have loved someone at least once in your life, you'll probably find this movie really cute and worth your time.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmvgCwq3HgCFuHAKb7jNFAQi720HsyKj_fr04Ct7zMqHgqG-zJAlbj7d6Kple2m1cnQCGPrIV4Xk25My_WG9Cjd87AayvdVQhkY2EMwQKOKBGSl6G2ewqKLoGJeTjqodI_t76pQrdJte8/s640/crazy+little+thing+called+love+-+part+2.divx_002236280.jpg)
Nam's character, I should say, is the movie's biggest strength. She is head over heels with him, but it's something she didn't really plan. It was not her intention to like him, but out of the blue moon, it just happened. One day, someone unexpectedly, just came along, and everything followed like a whirlwind. It was a crazy adventure of daydreaming and believing in magic and happy ever afters. A magical world that only she knows. Something that she has been trying to figure out all along, for the first time. Finding oneself dumbfounded by another person's mere existence, while being crazy in love at the same time. Isn't it the story everyone is most familiar of?
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBT6PEHdyd1hJEuhHf4LdEDmQmNkvJEPyhb8reis2mbzYo4G5bIrMj0zWjseiLBJ9oLpQFOlQ2oKS_hQQOVxy0r8I7C67VTZEaAvWOacNWebeQFESicKWeXTQ8zl68Ck2ManSlAkXPKdU/s640/crazy+little+thing+called+love+-+part+2.divx_002336080.jpg)
At one point of the movie, I was like "OMG! It's so meeeee!" Haha! Everything just stood out for me, as I felt like it was a story of every girl who have at least crushed on some guy and got her heart broken at the same time. Every element and every scene will probably remind you of something from your past. And it will really put a smile in your face, no matter how hurt you musth've felt in your 'almost the same' past experience. I was literally shouting and squealing because I felt like it was my heart being crushed in the movie. It was just like rewinding that period of my life where I have loved, and ended up with a not so good ending where I cried a river. It will pierce your heart, and it's almost like nostalgia. The feeling of knowing something so well, and going back to a place, or doing something so familiar that you have done before.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcQa2Hc2OEXmeA8PO5IJgMQavkxLBvCyV9mDoq4gA_cMHiFT-RWWRlm0tpWM4lOxvrfo6O_fjWgKikrLdGNUw0AAO6e_om50T5MCRXORpJ9KoTayagC0nGM_N0efPVbfbbfjsmO3nUq6o/s640/LittleThingCalledLove-Still02.jpg)
As much as you probably hate to admit it, you'll surely find yourself back in time again. Yes, that time of your life, you probably want to forget and delete in your memory altogether! Remember the diaries you once kept, the scrapbooks you have made, the glances you once stole, and the squeals you had to conceal? Everything is so high school, yes it is! And those memories will surely come back, when you watch this movie. That time, where you were once in love, and you were very happy, though you had you're heart crushed, and you poured your heart out. True enough, all of us have someone hidden in the bottom of our hearts. And when we think of him, we always feel some kind of pain inside of us. And yet, we still want to keep them. It's called unrequited love! Probably the most painful kind which exists out there.
Nonetheless, regardless of where you are today, or what you are doing, what's important is that you stepped out of the shadows, learned from it, and eventually became stronger in the end. That's what happened to me. I didn't get my happy ever after, and though it's quite sad, but it's an experience I will always be thankful for. But hey, your story doesn't have to end like mine. So, keep believing, and dream for the best is yet to come! I'm not saying that you should fantasize or something though, because that would be another crazy story. Haha! Just believe and have faith in yourself, just like what Nam did. You'll never know what happens next. It could be your happy ever after!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whew! I feel like so many things have been said, and I have drained out all my energy. After baby sitting your nephews and nieces, I think this is what you get in the end. ^ ^ It truly is a must see movie, regardless if your single, or you're with someone. It doesn't really matter! If you have loved and lost, and have felt the pain of loving and losing, this movie is for you. Unfortunately for me, my time is over! And for now, this super girl has to run, far far away from here! But before I leave, check out the lovely OST from the movie below!

The Blogger
Not a lot of people know (or would even understand), but I am also a victim of drama obsession. I've been camping in dramalandia since I was 13 years old, and that's where you will most likely find me when I have nothing to do.
One of the symptoms of this disease is daydreaming about dramas everywhere whether you are at work, walking down the stairs, sleeping, even as you are walking...creepy isn't it? Hahaha!
I am also a big Asian music fan and I think Asian music rocks! I go back and forth from Cpop to Kpop and Jpop, so I may be different (and strange) compared to other people that you can find around. I am an elder sister , a dreamer , a believer , a gamer , wanderer , blogger , an optimist , an ultimate foodie and a, hands down, fangirl . I love reading books , writing , music , photography and traveling.
I am a nurse by profession who is also a copy editor and a freelance writer . I enjoy learning how to play musical instruments and learning various languages . I am crazy, loud, spontaneous, free-spirited and most of the time, a klutz.
Eren Asentista a.k.a. Eray, 23, female, from Dumaguete City, Philippines. My personality...it's complicated. :D Believe me, you wouldn't want to know who I am. Hahaha! XD
I am currently watching...
In the coming days, I plan to watch...
In Asian Entertainment, I fancy...
(This is still lacking, but this is more or less it. LOL! I will most likely be updating this in the future to accommodate my growing list of biases but check em out!)
