Super Junior M Releases "Perfection" - The Second Mini Album
  My favorite Super Junior sub-group is back! Yes, they are. Finally, after more than one year since Hangeng left the group in 2009, the boys of Super Junior M have released another mini album (their second) to follow-up their first, which was a very big hit not just in China, but all over Asia. For this album by the way, I'm sure you have heard that they are back as 8 members, with two new additions making the SJ-M family bigger than before. Since Hangeng's departure, the member line-up for the sub-group was left with only six of its original 7 members namely Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Zhou Mi and Henry. This time, Eunhyuk and Sungmin have joined them, making it a total of 8 people altogether now. Are you excited? Hehe. I'm sure Kpop fans know this well. So for this post, I will be presenting the 6 tracks of their mini album titled Perfection. This was released around last week in Taiwan and China, and on March 3rd in Korea. This effort has a regular edition, a special edition with photocards and other things (I'm not really sure of the exact content of this one. LOL!) and a special Korean edition where their title track of the same name has a version not just in Chinese, but also in Korean. So are you ready to listen to the songs? I know you are, and I too have been hooked in this album that I have been putting it on replay ever since last week. (Both consciously and unconsciously I guess. ^ ^) Before the songs; however, check out there concept photos for this mini album below! Actually, AVEX Taiwan (their album distributor in the Chinese region) called this new concept "nobility-style" since you can see the boys with prince-like outfits and eccentric head gears. At first, I honestly thought that it was weird and pretty odd, but after seeing the HD music video of their title track Perfection, I was like "OMG! Breathless... *hearts all over* I just died." They were able to pull it off really well. Last 2009, they had the masculine concept for Super Girl while they were decked in suits, just like their Sorry, Sorry video if you remember. That video really turned out well, and the song was pretty good and catchy too. It sold a lot all over Asia, and captured hearts of many fangirls (and fanboys too! ^ ^). But this time around, they have become more fierce and the song style and tune have become more aggressive and more tough, which reflects their growing musicality and style over the years. Does the album suit your Asian pop taste? Well, if you are going to ask me, it suited mine. To the point where I even featured a post with it in my blog. Hehe. This was a definitely good album. Amazing songs! It was "Daebak!" (as Korean's call it!) The title track did not appeal to me that much at first, but after I saw the MV, I started to like it. I think it goes the same for the rest of the Suju songs. Ever since before, since they promote by releasing tracks in online music charts first, first followed by video teasers and then finally a music video, before the MV, I've always had mixed feelings. Sorry, Sorry is one of my favorite Suju songs of all time, but I didn't like on spot, I started to like it a few days after. It was the kind of like which grew after a few replays, and afterwards, I didn't know it was the #1 most played song in my playlist already. I have grown to really love that song over time (until now! ^ ^). Aside from the title track, the song which got me really hooked from this album was Love Is Sweet. It was written by Jay Chou, and he's like, well, I've been his fan for as long as I could remember. I think I was 14 or 15 then when I started listening to him. he has been pretty busy with crossing over to Hollywood lately with the movie The Green Hornet. So he's been on a hiatus from the music world lately since his latest album in 2010. After hearing the song he penned for SJ-M, I was like, "Now Now...I know why no one could replace him. His just so talented and all. Definitely irreplaceable! A music prodigy I must say." Well, his not called Taiwan's pop king for nothing. Hearing his songs once again after a long time, it was like being back to the good old days of my youth. I remember having all his songs in my computer when I was in high school. I did organize them into folders when our old PC was still alive. Good times! Hehe. Good times! Another favorite would be Destiny. It reminds me of SJ-M's previous ballad song Blue Tomorrow, which was the follow-up track to Super Girl for their first mini album in 2009, but this time it's sweeter and the melody is better, compared to the latter which was about heartbreak and saying goodbye to someone you don't want to part ways with. My All Is In You was also good. It's better than the Korean version, in my opinion. I don't know for the others, but it's better sounding in Chinese. Haha! This song was actually from Super Junior's fourth full length album Bonamana, and was later remaked in Chinese for sub-group Super Junior M's second mini album. True Love on the other hand was produced and arranged by Chance and Peter from the Korean hiphop trio One Way. They are known as Suju's good friends, so they have enlisted their support for them in this album. Lastly, Off My Mind which was Henry's composition was good. I missed hearing Henry's voice so I like it. It's upbeat and it's dancable, so many fans will hopefully like it too. So that's it! My Super Junior M Perfection mini album review is done! It's not so technical the way music critics would usually review an album, but I really did my best to share my thoughts and feelings for this one. It's more of like a fan review for my part, since I'm their fan. Though it's sounds a bit bias, it can't really be helped. What is it not to love with these guys? I'm sure legions of fans would agree with me. And with all honesty, even if I did not happen to be their fan, I will still like this album. Why? Because the songs are good and they did a pretty good job. Now these boys should give each other a pat in the back for a job well done! It was an amazing album. And now, my hands are tired.
