Profile

Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. • HANA YORI DANGO: The Korean Version
    Wednesday, January 7, 2009 @ 12:49 PM | comment (0)

It's hardly believable, but after quite some time, another version of the popular Japanese Manga by entitled "HANA YORI DANGO", which translates to "BOYS RATHER THAN FLOWERS or BOYS AS BEAUTIFUL AS FLOWERS" has another version is on its way, prepared to dazzle fans across Asia. I am talking about the Korean version, or the Korean adaptation so to speak. This will be quite interesting since the manga was re-made and adapted into a few versions already in the past years. The first one, being the most famous and talked-about should I say (no offense to the Japanese version) was the Taiwanese adaptation. It was the first asian series to air in the Philippines. If I'm not mistaken, it aired May 5,2003. I was still in 2nd year high school back then. I was a massive hit, and I remember almost everyone getting into the F4 frenzy at that time. The newcomer stars of "METEOR GARDEN" rose to stardom, from being relatively known before the series. That made Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu and Vanness Wu very popular all over the Asian archipelago. It was shown to the neighboring countries too, and the series was a very big hit. Barbie Hsu also became a household name in the Taiwanese entertainment industry. It reaised the standard with regards to the relative sucess of the other asian dramas which followed it years after.

The Japanese version followed soon after the Taiwanese version. The series was titled the same name as the original manga. It was also shown in the Philippines, and it earned positive responses from the viewers, straight across from their perspective in Meteor Garden. The Japanese comic adaptation soon followed. And now, there's this new one. It will be produced by Group Eight, the production company who worked with Fantasy Couple (starring Oh Ji Hoo) and Prince Hours (staring Se7en) - the spin-off to the hit 2006 MBC Drama Princess Hours, (staring Joo Ji Hoon, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Jeong Hoon and Song Ji Hyo) with Hwang In Roi, the director of the latter heading the production team of the series. This should be a good one I suppose. I am really keeping my expectations, and a whole lot more. I just saw the trailers, and this is yet to premiere hopefully in a couple of months., here in the country The Korean version of 'Hana Yori Dango' is set to be 24 episodes at 70 minutes each in KBS. Starting late 2008, the production has been working very hard to meet the high expectataions from fans, taking into account the success of the production teams previous works.

Playing as F4 or the leads of the series are Goo Hye Sun (Makino Tsukushi), Lee Min Ho (Domyoji Tsukasa), SS501 captain Kim Hyun Joong (Hanazawa Ru), Kim Bum (Nishikado Sojiro) and Kim Joon (Mimasaka Akira). According to TNS Media Korea, “Boys Before Flowers” has achieved a record opening of 14.3%, an opening number not seen since 19th March 2007 (nearly 2 years ago) when Lee Da Hae and Lee Ji Hoon’s “Hello! Miss” opened with a 14.8% rating. Looks like there's a lot of things to look forward to. I hope the series will be worth the wait for all fans across Asia.

Meanwhile, this is the short trailer from the series. Check it out. I can't wait to see the series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope one of the local networks will get the rights to air it in local television stations soon.
