Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. • Hooked on "You're Beautiful"
    Saturday, December 26, 2009 @ 8:47 PM | comment (0)

Season's Greetings everyone! With the Yuletide Season finally here, luckily, aside from the much deserved break that I was able to have, I was also lucky enough to get hold of a new Korean hit TV series. And it's non-other than SBS Primetime Drama "You're Beautiful" starring Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyang, Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nam/Go Min Nyu, Jung Yong Hwa (C.N. Blue) as Park Shin Woo, and Lee Hong Ki (FT Island) as Jeremy. Dubbed as the 2nd most successful and highly anticipated idol drama of 2009 after the hit KBS series "Boys Over Flowers", I certainly would like to say that after completing the series, the latter is almost at par with the former in terms of the storyline, the production, and of course, the popularity of the stars.

Basically, the story revolves around the life of an idol group called "A.N.Jell" on and off camera. It is a 3-member boy group composed of Jang Geun Suk (Tae Kyang), Jung Yong Hwa (Shin Woo) and Lee Hong Ki (Jeremy) who is currently, in the plot of the series, the most loved and popular boy group of the moment, enjoying every bit of the limelight, but with the fame and the popularity that goes with it, running away from the publicities, the bad press and the paparazzi's is the prize they have to pay. Until one day, the group's management company decides to add another vocal for the group. Everything was sailing smoothly, not until the newest addition to A.N.Jell , Park Shin Hye (Go Mi Nam) met an accident which causes him to seek rehabilitative help somewhere in the US. Because of this, his twin sister, (also played by Park Shin Hye) Go Mi Nyu, was left with no choice but to replace his twin brother and pretend to be him for a month or so until his health condition permits him to resume the jam-packed line-up of the band's activities. With exactly the same looks and voice to boot, Mi Nyu becomes Mi Nam and enters the world of showbiz with uncertainty, but with optimism and a great disposition. Following Mi Nyu's entry to A.N.Jell, she experiences the life of a singer, pressured to keep her big secret away from the public's preying eyes, as she tries to hold back her strange feelings for Tae Kyung, and as the rest of the guys in turn start to reveal their what they feel for a girl-like guy like her.

I loved Jang Geun Suk's (Beethoven Virus, Hong Gil Dong, Hwangjini) character in this series. Indeed, he never fails to impress and wow the audience with his transformation after assuming one role from another with totally different personalities. He has grown to be a talented and versatile actor throughout the years after starting out as a child star. And I have to admit, he's looking good each time I come across updates about him in the cyberworld. Probably half of South Korea wants to date him at the moment after appearing in this series. I must say that Park Shin Hye (Goong S) have also improved her acting in this series after appearing in Goong S. Netizens these days are buzzing on the gorgeous selca pictures that she uploads in her cyworld minihompy from time to time. C.N.Blue member Jung Yong Hwa who recently appeared in the 2009 Golden Disk Awars with Kim So Eun (Boys Over Flowers) have attracted that much fans since day 1 of the series' broadcast and Lee Hong Ki of the famous band FT Island, who started out as a child actor was also an attraction to small screen viewers all over Korea for his funny and upbeat character, much like Jiro Wang's character in Hana Kimi. It always makes me laugh. After School's UEE also stars as Yoo He Yi, and she plays as Korea's national fairy, a popular actress and singer who also falls for Tae Kyang and makes Mi Nyu/Mi Nam's life miserable one episode after another.

Recently, I came across a blog in the net which announced that local TV station ABS-CBN got the rights to broadcast the TV series in the Philippines. Thank God it's ABS. I must say, they always do justice to the dubbing of the characters, it's almost like the Korean stars themselves are saying it in the native language with the same voice quality, pitch and tone. It was also said that "You're Beautiful" will air early 2010 in the aforementioned TV station and I am definitely looking forward to see how the series will be turn out after its sucess in Korea and other Asian countries as well. It was also reported that a movie adaptation is coming into fushion and that a musical will also be staged in the near future, with the permission of the production company, and with the consent of the actors and the actresses' participation for these upcoming projects. ;p
