Who am I? I am a screwed-up blogger and an active blog reader since 2007. A soulful dreamer who believes that passion is life and a person who is looking for meaning, just like any other human being in this world. A super girl wannabe who is currently taking chances and chasing pavements, while keeping up with time and living life in general. This is me, and this blog is the outlet of my random thoughts. Yesterday was D-day, short for Dedication Day. In Silliman, it is an event for all junior student nurses to signify their commitment to the nursing profession even before graduating. I'm sure you've heard of Pinning, Capping or Candle lighting Ceremonies in nursing schools all over the world. In my part, I found it both disappointing and memorable. Disappointing, because my candle failed to light after a lot of attempts. (Whew! What a shame?) And memorable, because I know I'll never have another candle lighting event in the future, to make up for that candle which failed to light.

I was quite upset after going back to my seat. Sure, there was quite a number of individuals who failed to do so, but still I was upset because that was such and easy thing to do, but I failed to do it. And even before the ceremony, way before the practices started, we had omens that candles that would fail to light up or those which will stop burning in the middle of the stage will fail. And it was so depressing. Much to my dismay, I kept on thinking about it, and it really gave me so much anxiety. Years from now, if I can, I would really organize my very own candle lighting ceremony for those who failed to light their candles. Hehehe...

But in a nutshell, the event was successful, except for that part which I wish never happened or I wish I could erase for eternity. Hehe.. The place, although it's not quite bug, was just right for everyone. Right there at that very moment, everyone seemed happy and hopeful for a bright future. Whatever happened to the candles, one thing is for sure. It doesn't determine a student's future in a larger scale. It's merely a symbol of self dedication and compassion in caring for other people, in caring for humanity like what they all say.
